INTRODUCTION TO POWER AND GAS
The Power and Gas function comprises of Product Owners that report into the Head of Power and Gas. The Power and Gas function is responsible for defining and managing Trayport’s strategy and products across the global power and gas markets.
Product Owners will have a combination of product, subject matter and scrum responsibilities.  This role requires strong business analyst, product management and product owner experience in financial markets, with the ability to quickly develop good knowledge of Trayport’s complex products and services for Trader, Brokers and Exchange clients.
 
JOB ROLE
The Product Owner will be responsible for creating the product vision and delivering it.  Through engagement with internal and external stakeholders, gathering requirements, backlog management and running development sprints. With experience, the candidate will be expected to define quarterly and yearly roadmaps for products.

Customer engagement – Product Owners are expected to build client relationships to facilitate idea generation and be the expert on how the clients use the system, their requirements and become the voice of the customer internally. When bringing new products to market, the Product Owner should spend time with clients and internal sales and support teams, providing assistance, engagement and gaining understanding the products reception, e.g. functionality gaps, blockers to deployment, and future opportunities.  Product owners are expected to work with Marketing teams to create appropriate collateral and identify possible client engagement initiatives.

Internal team engagement:   Establish strong cross functional (e.g., TCMS, development, QA, Client Management) relationships; regularly engage across functions to leverage areas knowledge, facilitate information sharing, and accelerate product delivery. Ensure internal teams are engaged so that bugs/CRs are tracked across teams and correctly prioritized. 

Synthesize and document requirements - Develop high level Epic stories and break those down into detailed user stories.  During development of new functionality the PO will work closely with the TCMS, Development and QA teams, to break down stories and develop acceptance tests to ensure client requirements are successfully captured and implemented.

Build client workflows intelligence library – POs are expected to become specialists and an authoritative source for the rest of the business for the understanding of client workflows. Special emphasis will be placed on effective documentation, dissemination and sharing of this knowledge across the Product team and the rest of the firm 

Trayport network fluency – Become an expert on the usage of Trayport’s products/network in ‘the wild’ and provide a bridge between customers and Trayport engineering teams regarding workflows, requirements and platform functionality, for existing and components/features in development. 

Demonstrate the Platform - Run demos of new and existing functionality, internally and externally. 

PO team coordination - Work with fellow Product Owners to identify cross-project dependencies, ensuring strong communication between product initiatives and within the product team

Experience in client requirements and turn them into user stories

Track record of bringing new initiatives to market successfully
Experience in Scrum and Agile methodologies
Client and internal stakeholder management

Desirable
Energy markets (Power and Gas) knowledge
